Hey everyone in this video I'll be talking about several words some words that cannot be word-by-word translated into ENglish the list of words i'm about to share might seem a bit random because I came up with these myself over the years when I was still in the process of learning English in 8th - 9 th grade back then I used to wonder "how do you say this in English?" "How do Isay that?" And I never really found the answer even though I did a google search or what not and these were only answered when I finally moved to the USA for college and I was often surrounded by locals (native speakers) that was when I started to figure out how to say certain words in English so thats why in this video I'll be sharing with you guys how to say these words in English the first word is "mumpung" mumpung (while) means something like.. "Hey can you buy me some beansprouts WHILE you're at the market?" "Hey can you wash my clothes WHILE you're doing laundry?" And in English, it's "While at it" like for an example.. Number two is "keselek" a lot of people often think that Keselek in English is either 'choking or coughing' actually coughing or choking is 'batuk' because 'keselek' is actually a reason why you cough, so in ENglish, people normally say 'Wrong Pipe" "Wrong TUbe" so "batuk" means either coughing or choking and keselek is either wrong tube or wrong pipe because 'keselek' happens when you eat too fast, and the food falls into the wrong tube/pipe, and that's why you cough number 3 is.. And what does this mean? So this is in the context of..
'She can't even walk, let alone play soccer "she doesnt even want to study let alone passing the test" she hasn't even paid me back, "let alone" lend me money you guys understand the context right? And in English, it's "let alone" so let's try to translate or.. What was the 2nd example again number 4 is so in English, the word "kebelet" doesnt exist but in the situation where you are 'kebelet in English you simply say it like.. So the word 'kebelet' doesnt exist in English, but if you are 'kebelet, that is the phrase you say in ENglish but you know in Indonesian it's super simple, just say 'kebelet' number 5 is.. "Hey I think that guy was looking at me" "Please, don't be GE-ER(GR) ..He was looking at the girl behind you." And in ENglish, there's no such thing as "GR" as far as Iknow..
But in a similar situation like that, I always say it like.. Don't be GR = don't flatter yourself so for instance.. Number 6 is.. One of the things I hate about people is when they humblebrag usually these are the kind of people who..
Like for instance your friend who is super smart in class and she complains about and she complains about getting a 9, merendah untuk meninggi: literally: "going low to go high" and in English, it's called and the next one is.. And you know in Indonesian we call it "setahu gw.." And in English I usually say it like.. And that is all for now Iknow that the list is kinda random, but this is just the list I had way back then because Ireally didn't know how to say these words in English back then so if you guys have any other questions similar like this just comment below and I might make a similar video like this one as well if you like my videos and content, and feel like my content could help your friends who want to learn English don't forget to share and subscribe so we meet again next time.
